Privacy Policy
Applies to joinourwedding.site and its wedding sites (couple.joinourwedding.site). Last updated: .
1. Who we are
Join Our Wedding ("we", "the service") is a platform for couples and their organizing teams to publish a wedding website, manage guests and RSVPs, and collect contributions. The service is operated by [operator legal name and address — to be confirmed].
For guest information, the couple or organizing team that runs a wedding decides what to collect and how to use it; we process that information on their behalf to run their wedding site.
2. Information we collect
Account holders (couples, organizers, team members)
- Account details: email address and a password (stored by our authentication provider as a hash), or your Google account email and basic profile if you choose Continue with Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Wedding content: couple names, dates, venues, story, program, photos, theme, registry and fundraising goals, tasks, minutes, budget and vendor notes you enter.
- Payout verification (KYC): where a wedding enables paid features, identity and payout details for both partners may be requested before withdrawals. These details are private: they are never shown on the public wedding site and are visible only to the account holders concerned and to authorized platform staff reviewing payouts.
- Referrals: if you join or share through a referral link, we record the referral code to attribute the referral.
Guests
- RSVP details: name, phone number, attendance, party size, dietary needs and any messages or wishes you submit.
- Contributions and song bids: amount, currency, display name (or anonymity choice) and payment status. Card or mobile-money credentials are entered with the payment provider, not with us.
- Technical data: basic request data (such as IP address and browser type) used for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting. Some forms use a bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile).
Sponsors
Sponsors provide a business name, logo, link and bid or payment details. Sponsored placements are labelled publicly as sponsored.
3. How we use information
- To run wedding sites, RSVPs, digital passes, announcements and organizer tools.
- To process and reconcile payments, calculate platform fees and net balances, review payouts, and handle refunds and disputes.
- To secure accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce role-based access (Owner, Admin, organizer, client roles).
- To communicate with account holders about their account or wedding. We do not sell personal information.
4. What is public
A published wedding site shows what the couple chooses to publish (for example names, date, public venue details, story and photos). Guest phone numbers, RSVP details, KYC data and private financial records are not shown publicly. Contribution and leaderboard entries may show a display name and amount unless the contributor chooses to stay anonymous. Sponsor names, logos and sponsored status are public by design.
5. Who we share information with
- The wedding's organizers see guest RSVPs and contributions for their wedding.
- Service providers that host or operate the service, such as our hosting provider (Vercel), database and authentication provider (Supabase), bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), Google (only if you use Google sign-in), and payment providers (see below).
- Legal and safety: where required by law or to protect users and the service.
6. Payments
Payments are handled by third-party providers such as Paystack and Safaricom M-Pesa (Daraja). You enter card or mobile-money details with the provider; we receive only the transaction reference, amount, currency, status and limited payer details needed to confirm and reconcile the payment. A payment is only treated as complete after server-side confirmation from the provider. The providers' own privacy policies apply to the data you give them.
Payments are currently in test/sandbox mode; no real money is collected until live payments are enabled.
7. Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Sign-in sessions are kept in your browser's session storage for joinourwedding.site, which is cleared when you close the tab, and are not shared with wedding subdomains. Wedding sites may store small preferences (such as the audio toggle or a pending RSVP) in your browser. The bot-check and payment provider pages may set their own cookies.
8. Assistant and AI features
The organizer assistant (including the WhatsApp assistant concept) suggests drafts such as tasks, announcements or records from messages that organizers forward or connect. Suggestions are not applied until an organizer reviews and approves them. The assistant does not make payments, approve payouts, change roles or make decisions about people. A WhatsApp connection works only through an official WhatsApp Business number set up by the organizers; it cannot read groups or chats it has not been given.
9. Retention and deletion
- Weddings are archived, not deleted. To protect guests' contributions and the financial record, a wedding cannot be permanently deleted from the dashboard; it can be unpublished and archived.
- Financial records (payments, fees, refunds, disputes, payouts) are kept as long as needed for reconciliation, dispute handling and legal obligations.
- Deletion requests: you can ask us to delete or anonymize your account or guest information. We will do so where we are not required to keep it (for example, for financial records). Specific retention periods: [to be confirmed].
10. Your choices
Account holders can update wedding content and unpublish a site at any time. Guests can contact the couple, or us, to correct or remove RSVP details. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights (such as access, correction or objection); contact us to make a request.
11. Children
Accounts are for adults. Guests may include family members of all ages, but RSVPs should be submitted by an adult.
12. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
13. Contact
Privacy questions and requests: [privacy contact — to be confirmed]. Until a contact is published, please reach us through the feedback option on joinourwedding.site.
